Install Your Alpine 8 Speaker Plug & Play Bundle!
Here is a simple and easy breakdown of how to install you new Alpine 8 Speaker bundle for your 2010-2024 Toyota 4Runner.
Installation Video
- Ratchet wrench
- 10mm socket
- T20 torx bit
- Panel removal tool
- Phillips head screw driver
Step 1
Remove the dash tweeters:
- Using a panel removal tool pry up on the speaker grille on the dash.
- Using a 10mm socket or wrench remove the two bolts that secure the factory tweeter.
- Depress the tab and remove the speaker connector.
- Remove the factory tweeter bracket from the speaker by removing the two T20 torx screws.
- Use a small flat head screw driver to release the connector from the bracket.
Repeat the process for the other tweeter.
Step 2
Assembling the Alpine tweeter:
- In the box you will find the provided 2.75 inch Trail Grid Pro tweeter adapter. Place the tweeter adapter on top of the tweeter, lining up the four pre-drilled holes.
- Use the provided phillips head bolts and nuts to secure the tweeter to the adapter.
- Place the bolt up through the hole from the bottom and secure the nut on top.
- Attach the provided speaker wiring adapter to the tweeter by connecting the 1/8th inch and 1/4 inch spade connectors.
- Insert the tweeter assembly back into the factory bracket from Step 1 and secure with the two T20 bolts.
Step 3
Installing the tweeter:
- Connect the tweeter wiring harness to the factory wiring.
- Align the notch in the bracket and line up the holes in the bracket with the factory mounting locations.
- Secure the tweeter assembly to the dash using the two factory 10mm bolts.
- Replace the speaker grille cover.
Repeat the process for the other tweeter
Step 4
Removing the front door panel:
- Remove the plastic trim panel from near the mirror by pulling out with your fingers.
- Remove the cover panel behind the door handle by prying out the cover with a panel tool.
- Open the cover near the top of the grab handle to reveal a phillips head bolt.
- Open the cover at the bottom of the grab handle to reveal a phillips head bolt.
- Remove the three phillips head bolts using a screwdriver.
- Remove the door panel by grabbing the bottom of the panel and pull back with your fingers.
- Lift the door panel up and off the window ledge.
- Disconnect the door latch and locking wire by removing the connector from the hold, swivel the ball up and out of the mechanism.
- Depress and remove the connections for the window switch and courtesy light.
If any of the retaining clips for the door panel stayed in the door, now is the time to remove them using a panel removal tool and insert them back into the door panel.
Step 5
Removing the factory 6x9 in the front door:
- Depress the tab and remove the factory wiring connector.
- Using a phillips head screw driver or 10mm socket, remove the four bolts that secure the factory 6x9 to the door panel.
Step 6
Installing your new Alpine 6x9 speaker:
For this step you will need the included Trail Grid Pro 6x9 speaker bracket and the provided 3/8 inch silver screws and the black phillips head screws.
- Attach the Trail Grid Pro 6x9 speaker adapter to the door panel with the provided 3/8 inch bolts.
- Connect the included speaker wire harness to the speaker by attaching the 1/8th inch and 1/4 inch spade connectors.
- Route the speaker wire through one of the channels in the speaker bracket and place the speaker into the opening.
- Connect the speaker wire harness to the factory speaker connector.
- Line up the speaker and use the provided black phillips head screws to secure the speaker to the mounting bracket.
Take care that you do not puncture or damage the speaker while securing the screws.
Step 7
Replace the front door panel:
- Connect the window switch panel, courtesy light, door lock wire and door handle wire.
- Hang the door on the window ledge and push down into place.
- Once the door panel is lines up, push in to secure the retaining clips.
- Secure the three phillips head screws: Located behind the door handle, at the top of the grab handle and at the bottom of the grab handle.
- Replace the cover plate behind the door handle.
- Replace the trim piece near the mirror.
Step 8
Removing the rear door panel:
- Remove the cover panel behind the door handle by prying out the cover with a panel tool.
- Open the cover near the top of the grab handle to reveal a phillips head bolt.
- Open the cover at the bottom of the grab handle to reveal a phillips head bolt.
- Remove the three phillips head bolts using a screwdriver.
- Remove the door panel by grabbing the bottom of the panel and pull back with your fingers.
- Lift the door panel up and off the window ledge.
- Disconnect the door latch and locking wire by removing the connector from the hold, swivel the ball up and out of the mechanism. Depress and remove the connections for the window switch and courtesy light.

Step 9
Remove the factory rear door 6.5 inch speaker:
- Depress the tab and remove the factory wiring connector.
- Using a phillips head screw driver or 10mm socket, remove the three bolts that secure the factory 6.5 inch speaker to the door panel.
Step 10
Installing your new Alpine 6.5 inch rear door speaker:
For this step you will need the included Trail Grid Pro 6.5 inch speaker bracket and the provided 3/8 inch silver screws and the black phillips head screws.
- Attach the Trail Grid Pro 6.5 inch speaker adapter to the door panel with the provided 3/8 inch bolts.
- Connect the included speaker wire harness to the speaker.
- Route the speaker wire through one of the channels in the speaker bracket and place the speaker into the opening.
- Connect the speaker wire harness to the factory speaker connector by attaching the 1/8th inch and 1/4 inch spade connectors.
- Line up the speaker and use the provided black phillips head screws to secure the speaker to the mounting bracket.
- Connect the window switch panel, courtesy light, door lock wire and door handle wire.
- Hang the door on the window ledge and push down into place.
- Once the door panel is lines up, push in to secure the retaining clips.
- Secure the three phillips head screws: Located behind the door handle, at the top on the grab handle and at the bottom of the grab handle.
- Replace the cover plate behind the door handle.
Step 12
Remove the rear hatch cover:
- Remove the pull handle trim piece by prying out with a panel removal tool or small screwdriver.
- Remove the pull strap using a 10mm socket to remove the bolt.
- Remove the hatch light assemblies by prying out on one side.
- Pry in the slot on the drivers side of each light to release the spring tab.
- Depress the tab to release the wiring harness.
- Repeat for both lights
- Remove the hatch cover by releasing the retaining clips around the edge by pulling with your fingers.
- Lift the cover up and off the window ledge.
- If any of the retaining clips for the door panel stayed in the door, now is the time to remove them using a panel removal tool and insert them back into the door panel.
Step 13
Remove the factory hatch 6.5 inch speaker:
- Depress the tab and remove the factory wiring connector.
- Using a phillips head screw driver or 10mm socket, remove the three bolts that secure the factory 6.5 inch speaker to the door panel.
Step 14
Installing your new Alpine 6.5 inch rear door speaker:
For this step you will need the included Trail Grid Pro 6.5 inch speaker bracket and the provided 3/8 inch silver screws and the black phillips head screws.
- Attach the Trail Grid Pro 6.5 inch speaker adapter to the door panel with the provided 3/8 inch bolts.
- Connect the included speaker wire harness to the speaker.
- Route the speaker wire through one of the channels in the speaker bracket and place the speaker into the opening.
- Connect the speaker wire harness to the factory speaker connector by attaching the 1/8th inch and 1/4 inch spade connectors.
- Line up the speaker and use the provided black phillips head screws to secure the speaker to the mounting bracket.
Take care that you do not puncture or damage the speaker while securing the screws.
Repeat the process for the other hatch speaker.
Step 15
Replace the rear hatch cover:
- Hang the hatch cover over the window ledge.
- Line up the retaining tabs and push into place. Push around the edge and in the middle of the panel.
- Install the pull handle by securing the 10mm bolt.
- Replace the pull handle cover piece
- Connect the courtesy lights harnesses and insert them back into the hatch.
Step 16
Test your new Alpine 8 Speaker Bundle.
Pro Tip: These are new speakers and they operate the best following a break in. Go easy on them and break them in easy,
