🛠️Parts Included:

  • Kenwood KFC-XP6902C 6x9 & 2.75" Component System (dash speakers and front door speakers).
  • Kenwood KFC-X175 6.5" Speakers (back door and back hatch).
  • All required speaker adapters will be pre-sized for ease of installation.

🛠️Tools Needed:

  • Panel Removal Tool
  • Philips Head Screwdriver
  • 10 mm Socket with Ratchet Wrench

📝Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Removing Dash Speakers

  • Use a panel tool to remove the speaker grille.
    • Insert the tool below the grille and pry up gently.
  • Use a 10mm wrench to remove the two 10mm bolts that secure the speaker mount.
  • Disconnect the wiring connection by depressing the tab. 
  • Use a T20 torx bit to remove the two screws holding the factory speaker into the speaker mounting bracket.
    • The tweeter bolts have proven to be very tight from the factory. Take your time and avoid stripping the bolts!
    • Remove the connector from the bracket.

Step 2: Installing Kenwood 2.75" Dash Speakers

  • To complete you will need the following parts:
    • 2.75 inch dash speaker.
    • Crossovers & connector in the bag labeled (DASH).
  • Use the two T20 screws to secure the Kenwood speaker to the factory Toyota speaker bracket. 
  • Connect the supplied crossover to the wires from the speaker. 
    • Match up and connect the 1/4 inch and 1/8th spade connectors. 
    • Make sure that the connections are covered by the plastic insulators. 
  • Connect the harness to the factory speaker plug from the dash.
    • Tuck the wiring into the dash. 
  • Secure the speaker assembly with the two factory 10 mm bolts. 
    • Do NOT over tighten.
  • Replace the speaker grille by pushing it into place.

Repeat the same process for the other dash speaker. 

Step 3: Removing Front Door Panel

  • Remove the trim panel located by the side mirror by pulling off with your hands. 
  • Use a panel tool or small pry tool to remove covers:
    • 1st is located behind the door handle.
    • 2nd is located near the top of the grab handle.
    • 3rd is located below the grab handle.
  • Remove the three Phillips head screws located behind the covers you just opened. 
  • Remove the door panel by pulling with your hands to release the retaining clips around the edge of the door panel. 
  • Lift the door panel up and off the window edge.
  • Remove the cables for the door handle:
    • Remove the retainer and swivel to release the ball. 
  • Remove the window switch and courtesy light connector by depressing the tabs. 
  • Check to make sure that all of the retaining clips are removed from the door and placed back in the door panel.

Step 4: Removing Factory 6x9 Speaker

  • Remove the speaker wire connector by depressing the tab.
  • Remove the four 10 mm bolts that secure the speaker to the door.
    • Save the bolts as you will reuse them.

Step 5: Installing Kenwood 6x9 Speaker

  • Use the provided 6x9 speaker bracket and secure it to the door using the four factory 10 mm bolts.
    • Start the four screws by hand and than tighten. Do NOT over tighten! 
  • Connecting the speaker:
    • Connect the provided crossover by matching up the 1/4 inch and 1/8th spade connectors on the back of the speaker as shown below:
Use the Bypass positive and negative terminals. 
    • Connect the wiring harness to the factory speaker wire.
    • Place the speaker into the mounting bracket, routing the speaker wire through the channel in the bracket.
    • Use the provided Phillips head screws to secure the speaker to the mounting bracket. 

Take your time and protect the face of the speaker with your hand so that you do not puncture the speaker or the surround with the screw driver. 

Step 6: Replacing Door Panel

  • Check to make sure that all of the retaining clips are replaced in the door panel.
  • Replace the window switch connector and courtesy light connector.
  • Replace the cables for the door handle:
    • Place the ball, swivel and replace the retainer. The White retainer goes on top and the Green retainer goes on the bottom. 
  • Place the door panel on the window edge and push down to line up the door panel. 
  • Push in around the edge to connect the retaining clips.
  • Replace the three Phillips head screws located behind the covers.
    • Silver screw goes behind the door handle.
    • The black screws go back in the other two locations.
    • Close the covers and replace the panel behind the door handle. 
  • Replace the trim panel located by the side mirror by pushing into place.

Repeat Steps 3-6 for the other front door.

Step 7: Removing Rear Door Panel

  • Use a panel tool or small pry tool to remove covers:
    • 1st is located behind the door handle.
    • 2nd is located near the top of the grab handle.
    • 3rd is located below the grab handle.
  • Remove the three Phillips head screws located behind the covers you just opened. 
  • Remove the door panel by pulling with your hands to release the retaining clips around the edge of the door panel. 
  • Lift the door panel up and off the window edge.
  • Remove the cables for the door handle:
    • Remove the retainer and swivel to release the ball. 
  • Remove the window switch connector by depressing the tabs. 
  • Check to make sure that all of the retaining clips are removed from the door and placed back in the door panel.

Step 8: Removing Factory 6.5" Speaker

  • Remove the speaker wire connector by depressing the tab.
  • Remove the three 10 mm bolts that secure the speaker to the door.
    • Save the bolts as you will reuse them.

Step 9: Installing Kenwood 6.5" Speaker

  • Use the provided speaker bracket and secure it to the door using the three factory 10 mm bolts.
    • The bracket will only line up one way. If it does not line up keep rotating until it does.
    • Start the three screws by hand and than tighten. Do NOT over tighten! 
  • Connecting the speaker:
    • Connect the provided crossover by matching up the 1/4 inch and 1/8th spade connectors on the back of the speaker. 
    • Connect the wiring harness to the factory speaker wire.
    • Place the speaker into the mounting bracket, routing the speaker wire through the channel in the bracket.
    • Use the provided phillips head screws to secure the speaker to the mounting bracket. 

Take your time and protect the face of the speaker with your hand so that you do not puncture the speaker or the surround with the screw driver. 

Step 10: Replacing Rear Door Panel

  • Check to make sure that all of the retaining clips are replaced in the door panel.
  • Replace the window switch connector.
  • Replace the cables for the door handle:
    • Place the ball, swivel and replace the retainer. The White retainer goes on top and the Green retainer goes on the bottom. 
  • Place the door panel on the window edge and push down to line up the door panel. 
    • Start with the outside of the door panel and work towards the inside of the door. 
    • You may need to roll the window down for this step to make it easier to work the top of the door panel back into place.
  • Push in around the edge to connect the retaining clips.
  • Replace the three Phillips head screws located behind the covers.
    • Silver screw goes behind the door handle.
    • The black screws go back in the other two locations.
    • Close the covers and replace the panel behind the door handle. 

Repeat Steps 7-10 for the other rear door.

Step 11: Removing Rear Hatch Cover

  • Remove the pull handle trim piece by prying out with a panel removal tool or small screwdriver. 
  • Remove the hatch light assemblies by prying out on one side (The driver side). 
  • Remove the hatch cover by releasing the retaining clips around the edge by pulling with your fingers. 
  • Lift the cover up and off the window ledge.
  • If any of the retaining clips for the door panel stayed in the door, now is the time to remove them using a panel removal tool and insert them back into the door panel.

Step 12: Removing Factory 6.5" Speakers

  • Disconnect the speaker wires by depressing the tabs.
  • Remove the three 10 mm bolts that hold in the factory speaker. 
  • Lift up and remove the speakers. 

Step 13: Installing Kenwood 6.5" Rear Hatch Speakers

  • Attach the speaker adapter to the door panel with the factory 10 mm screws.
  • Connect the included speaker wire harness to the speaker by matching up the 1/4 inch and 1/8th inch spade connectors.
  • Route the speaker wire through one of the channels in the speaker bracket and place the speaker into the opening.
  • Line up the speaker and use the provided black phillips head screws to secure the speaker to the mounting bracket.
  • Take care that you do not puncture or damage the speaker while securing the screws.

Repeat the process for the other hatch speaker.

Step 14: Replacing Rear Hatch Cover

  • Hang the hatch cover over the window ledge.
  • Line up the retaining tabs and push into place. Push around the edge and in the middle of the panel.
  • Install the pull handle by securing the 10mm bolt.
  • Replace the pull handle cover piece.
  • Connect the courtesy lights harnesses and insert them back into the hatch.

Step 15: Test Your New Kenwood 8 Speaker Bundle

Pro Tip: These are new speakers and they operate the best following a break in. Go easy on them and break them in easy.
