4Runner Dash Mount Installation
Do you often use your smartphone or other devices for directions or communicating while on the road? If so, you need a vehicle dashboard mount for safe and efficient driving. A dash mount system is a clean way to mount your devices at eye-view in your Toyota 4Runner or other truck. How To Install Toyota 4Runner Center Dash Mount
Step 1: Cover the top corners of your current audio system with painter’s tape.
Step 2: Place the dash mount on top of the painter’s tape. Mark drilling holes with a screwdriver or thin marker. Remove the dash mount.
Step 3: Remove the head unit.
(Use gentle pressure and remove piece by piece. Place bolts in nearby cup holder to avoid losing them.)
Step 4: Disconnect the head unit from the 4Runner’s internal wiring. Place the unit off to the side.
Step 5: Use a drill to carefully drill holes along the painter’s tape marks. Remove the painter’s tape after drilling.
Step 6: Install the power pack mounting piece along the dash mount.
Step 7: Mount the dash mount.
(Align the longer screws with the top of the head unit and the shorter screws on the sides.)
Step 8: Remove the vents from the head unit with the pull tabs.
(This grants you better access to position the locking nut on each bolt.)
Step 9: Tighten each nut and replace the vents. Replace the trim piece as well.
Step 10: Drill an additional hole in the head unit to run the power pack wires through. Route wires through and connect each to your power pack.
Step 11: Reconnect each plug back to your 4Runner head unit. Replace your head unit and snap it into place.
Step 12: Disassemble the twelve-volt cover and connect the power pack wire with the power source and ground wire.
Step 13: Test your power source.
Step 14: Reassemble the twelve-volt cabinet, AC panel, and side pieces.
