Installation Video
Tools Needed:
- Phillips head screw driver
- 10mm socket
- Ratchet wrench
- Panel removal tool
Step 1
Installing the resistors to the Morimoto tail lights:
- Connect the provided resistor to the connector with the black and red wires on the back of the tail light.
- Using the mounting posts on the back of the tail light with the smaller holes, line up the slots in the resistor and secure with the provided phillips head screws.
- DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN
- Repeat the process for the other tail light.
Remove the factory tail light:
- Lower the tailgate.
- Remove the two 10mm bolts that secure the tail light assembly.
- With the tail light loosened, pull the tail light assembly towards the back of the bed to release the two locating pins.
- Disconnect the three factory connections by depressing the tabs.
- Make sure that the locating pin inserts are removed for the locating pins on the factory tail lights.
- The white insert should be located on the top.
- The black insert should be located on the bottom.
Installing you new Morimoto tail light:
- Match and connect the wiring harness. The plugs are keyed meaning that they will only connect to their mate.
- Feed the wires into the body of the truck and line up the alignment pins.
- Push the tail light into place and secure with the factory 10mm bolts.
- DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN, these only need to be finger tight.
- Repeat the process for the other tail light.
Test the function:
- Check the function of the running light, brake light, turn signal, hazards and reverse light.
